The British Residency is among the most famous landmarks in Lucknow. Though the building is now in ruins yet its charm cannot be overlooked. Archaeological Survey of India has declared it a protected monument. The British Residency used to serve as a refuge for as many as 3000 British inhabitants in 1857 during the time of the uprising.
