    Chattar Manzil is among the most remarkable monuments built by the Nawabs of Lucknow. Besides, a strikingly different architecture, Chattar Manzil also has a Umbrella-shaped dome. The architecture of the monument is inspired by European style which reflects through various design elements. The construction of Chattar Manzil was started by Nawab of Lucknow, Ghazi-ud-din Haider and was completed by his son Nasir-Ud-din Haider. Though the monument Stil Maintains the old world charm yet it serves as an office for the Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI) today. Chattar Manzil is situated on the right bank of river Gomti. This five-storeyed building served as a royal palace for the kings of Awadh.It was earlier divided into two buildings- Bari (larger) Chattar Manzil and Chhoti (smaller) Chattar Manzil. Only the Bari (larger) Chattar Manzil exists today. The architectural style of these buildings is Indo-European-Nawabi.
