Central Jail Aguada is located at one of the most interesting locations overlooking the sea. The prison used to be the largest jail in Goa, but as the government realized its potential for a tourist spot, The Goa Tourism Development Corporation decided to turn the jail into a museum. Besides making the jail a tourist spot, the GTDC also aims to pay heritage to Goa’s freedom fighters.
The project will include the creation of activity zones, viewing galleries, amenity zones, tourist information centres, renovation of temple and chapel areas, renovation of the prison cells, prison corridors, walls, pathways, seating, water fountains, new and improved lighting of the jail campus, a well-equipped caf and a lot more.
