Puducherry is the Union Territory of India and an enclave of Tamil Nadu. The union territory of Puducherry comprises four districts viz Puducherry, Karaikal, Yanam and Mahe. Puducherry is spread over an area of 492 sq km. Puducherry is greatly influenced by French architecture. There are neat sectors and perpendicular streets in Puducherry much resembling the French grid system. There are many interesting places to visit in Puducherry and some of them are listed here.

Puducherry is divided into two segments viz French Quarter and the Indian Quarter. The French Quarter is also known as White Town and features buildings of colonial style. The Indian quarter is also known as Black Town features villas with long verandas and grill type gates. Puducherry serves as a major tourist destination in India. The territory is visited by many tourists of Indian and foreign origin. The exotic beaches of Puducherry are flooded with tourists around the year.

The territory also features Aurobindo Ashram where Sir Aurobindo took his last breath. Puducherry is well connected to different parts of India via rail and roads. Pondicherry is well connected with five-way railway junction at Villupuram and Chennai. Puducherry is also visited by many scholars, students and teachers alike.
