Allahabad High Court holds the pride of place as one among the first set of high courts that were established in India. The state of Uttarpradesh comes under the jurisdiction of this high court. Understanding that in the present-day world, information should be disseminated, communicated and retrieved properly, the court is using an Open Source Software for maintaining case records. 

The court is still facing challenges because lawyers, judges and litigants are finding it difficult to get the information they want on time. Though computerization has made it possible to clear and reduce the backlogs and arrears, there is still much scope for improvement. 

Only if the justice-delivery system is excellent, people will have faith in the judiciary. Apart from management of the court, cases should also be managed properly for having an efficient justice-delivery system. It is with this aim that the court has started its journey towards optimal and sustainable use of computerization. Judges belonging to the Allahabad High Court, apart from being "case deciders", are taking active participation in change management also. They are trying to eliminate the inefficient procedures that are responsible for accumulation of arrears and backlogs of cases.

With the help of a proper and dynamic database, the court is managing cases more efficiently than what it was earlier. Work allocation, follow-ups and disposals are far more efficient now. Skilled staff are being deployed to manage all the work. Training is being given to the existing employees for participating in the changes that take place.
