More about Mangla Gauri Temple, Gaya and Historical Information

Perched on top of the Mangla Gauri Temple. This 15th-century monument was built at the time when Rajput’s occupied Gaya and Banaras. It is believed that Goddes Shakti fell on the Mangla Gauri hill when she was stopped by the Gods to prevent Shiva from destroying the world. The Hindus consider this a part of the ‘Maha Shakti Peeth,” and it is said that pilgrims who make it to the temple get all their wishes fulfilled.

The Temple is dedicated to the creator of the universe, Goddess Shakti. The temple complex has three other shrines dedicated to Lord Ganesh, Lord Shiva and Lord Kali respectively. Special worships are carried out in the Shravan Months, and married women exercise fasting during the period. A motorable road connects the temple, but pilgrims often use the flight of steps that start from the bottom of the hill. Pilgrims can also visit the Temple of Bhīma located next to the start of steps. The Mangla Gauri temple can be accessed all year round.
