    This is a State Museum which has historical artefacts of Patna. The local name for this museum is Jadu Ghar. The building has Mughal and Rajput architecture. There are many different items that are displayed in this museum. This includes archaeological objects, coins, art objects, paintings, instruments, textiles, paintings, thankas, bronze images and sculptures and terra cotta images by Hindu and Buddhist artists. This museum also has paintings of British period which gives a glimpses of daily life during that period. There is also a collection of the first President of India that is Dr. Rajendra Prasad. There is also a World War1 Cannon in this museum.

    In this museum there is also fossil of a tree which is said to be more than 200 million years old. There is also a casket that was unearthed archaeologist, A. S. Altekar, at the Relic Stupa of Vaishali. It is said to contain the sacred ashes of Gautam Buddha. Artefacts of the post 1764 period are placed in the Patna Museum. The artefacts from the ancient era to 1764 are kept in the Bihar Museum. It must be noted that the Patna Museum and the Bihar Museum are two different museums.
