Also known as Vembanad Bird Sanctuary, the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary is a breathtaking abode for a wide range of birds in Kottayam district of Kerala. This bird sanctuary accommodates both native and migratory species, making the place a paradise for bird watchers and enthusiasts. There are houseboats and motorboats available for tourists which only add to the magnificent experience.
The sanctuary is spread over an area of 14 acres on the Southern bank of the Kanwar river. It is maintained by Kerala Tourism Development Corporation.
