More about Old State House, Boston and Historical Information

Established in 1713, the Old State House is a historic building which served as the seat of Massachusetts General Court until 1798. It is also considered one of the oldest public buildings in the United States, which features interactive guides or fully-costumed Revolutionary characters. It offers historic period rooms with multi-sensory exhibits, ravishing arts, and important artifacts.

The building used to serve as a centre of politics in the communities where the exchange of economics and local news used to take place. The Declaration of Independence was read from the balcony on the east side of the building, and just below it is the place where the Boston Massacre took place.
