The Karni mata temple also known as the temple of rats is found deep in the Thar Desert. This temple is also known as the temple of rats because there are thousands of rats living in it believed to be holy by Hindus. This temple has a legend to it dating back as early as 1400s about Karni Mata who promised that all male storytellers would be reincarnated as rats in the temple. The temple features intricate marble panels and solid silver carvings. It was built in the early 1900s to honor Karni Mata together with her furry and reincarnated devotees the rats.
