    Also known as the Lake Garden Palace, Jag Mandir is a phenomenal palace in Udaipur, Rajasthan. Located on the southern island of Lake Pichola, Jag Mandir is a three-storeyed mahal made of sandstone and marble. The place boasts of a number of life-sized structures of elephants that are carved entirely out of marble. It was built in the early 17th century under the rule of Maharana Jagat Singh. The building of the structure started as early as 1551. Continued to be built for two decades, the palace also served as a hiding spot for Shah Jahan. On the way to the palace, one could find Gul Mahal, where Shah Jahan used to live.
